Herriman City is accepting applications for a Seasonal Parks/Events Technician. We are looking for a hard working individual who like to working with their hands, taking pride in the maintenance of our parks, and enjoys be outside. The hours are usually Monday through Friday, with exceptions for some City events. Usually 40 hours a week.  Herriman City provides a fantastic work environment and we are a great place to work. Provides entry level seasonal support and customer service at multiple City facilities.  Provides support to the Parks department in parks maintenance and labor.  Performs a variety of events and recreational duties related to City events, concessions, cleaning and maintenance.



Receives instructions and direction from a Lead, Supervisor or Manager of the Parks, Events and Recreation department.



  • Provides assistance and support at City events and recreational facilities.      
  • Assists in duties for the maintenance and beautification of City parks and park facilities, including garbage collection, cleaning and weed control.
  • Assists with concessions, food sales, and preparation including operation of food service equipment and cash registers.
  • Provides customer service for park and event visitors.  
  • Promotes a safe environment for visitors and employees.
  • Follow department and City policies and procedures.
  • Ensures regulations and rules are being followed by customers and residents. 
  • Ensures work areas are clean and organized before leaving at the end of shifts.
  • Certain Parks duties and equipment require employees to be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.



  • High School Diploma or be working towards a diploma or similar degree.


  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • None required but must be at least 16yrs old by the time employment starts.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, physical and driving record check, if applicable.
  • May be required to obtain a Food Service Workers Permit before start date or before handling food concessions.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or similar degree
  • 1 year experience in customer service
  • 1 year experience in landscaping or parks maintenance



  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
  • Communicates effectively with customers and provide effective service.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationship with supervisor.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment and adhere to timeline expectations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and extra hours as required including holidays, weekends including Sundays, nights, work schedule may occasionally require to work longer than a ten (10) hour shift and be on-call.



  • May use motorized vehicles, light and heavy equipment and hand tools.



  • Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, kneeling, and reaching.  Talking, hearing and seeing are essential to performing required job functions. 
  • Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity must exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and ability to maintain composure in adverse situations.
  • Proper use of hazardous chemicals is required.
  • Exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions.
